Fruits and vegetables can be a harmful or healthy based on the farms, fertilizer, growing procedures, herbicides, pesticides, processing, seeds and soil. While we are instructed to eat more fruits and vegetables it is important which options we choose. There is a big difference between locally and organically grown fruits and vegetables and those produced on big commercial farms using biotechnology, chemicals, GE and hybridized seeds and production methods to market and manufacture fake, fast and junk foods disguised as healthy.
Many of the modern food growers and manufactures are determined to sell food products they have created to appear more convenient and healthy when in fact they may not be. Commercial food production has become more about higher profitability and longer shelf life than better health and nutrition. The commercial agriculture and food manufacturers in cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) have been extremely misleading and slow in disclosing, educating and informing the public regarding the ingredients and methods used to create, grow and market foods. By avoiding full disclosure and transparency the commercial food producers and USDA make it extremely difficult for the public to make informed buying decisions for optimal health. Our well being and future generations depend on access to clean, healthy, nutrient dense and unadulterated organic whole foods. There is significant evidence that many fruits and vegetables are being produced in such a way as to actually hinder and impede normal human development, health and learning.
Commercial food manufacturers and sellers depend on commercial food growers for the raw products to bring to market. Unfortunately many commercial growers today are using Genetically Engineered (GE) and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) like Alfalfa, Canola, Corn, Cotton, Papaya, Soy, Sugar Beets and Wheat with large doses of toxic chemical fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, insecticides and pesticides. Therefore many of the fruits and vegetables we are consuming today are exposing us to these undesirable synthetic toxic chemicals.
For decade’s doctors, researchers and scientists have discovered that chemical contamination from our environment and food are leading causes of many diseases and health problems. Due to modern food processing and synthetic chemicals many fruits and vegetables may be significantly contributing to health issues like: cancer, cellular damage, diabetes, disease, DNA damage, genetic disruption, hormone issues, learning problems, mental impairment and obesity. Many commercial and highly processed fruits and vegetables are exposing billions of people to unhealthy chemicals and compounds.
Most shoppers are brainwashed, confused and manipulated regarding healthy food choices. Due to deceptive dietary disclosure, industry agendas, marketing manipulation and misguided government policies we are being poisoned and polluted. Most people overlook and underestimate the power wielded by billion dollar food industries and government agencies that educate, guide and influence our behaviors, habits and rituals. Could they be setting us up for disease and problems maintaining our health and well being?
Fruits and vegetables can be healthy depending on the farming, ingredients, manufacturing, processing, seeds and storage used. Unfortunately one weak link in the food chain system can negatively impact our behavior, body and brain. Our brain, endocrine system, immune system, nerves and reproductive cells are highly susceptible to damage by contaminated beverages and foods we consume.
Common sense, intuition and instinct direct us to consume nutrient dense organic whole foods to be happy and healthy. Most people have become too deficient, desensitized and dumbed down to determine how eating behaviors, choices and habits are affecting our emotional, mental and physical health.
We must make great food choices for great energy, health, vitality and well being. Contaminated and low quality fruits and vegetables can cause long term damage and disruption that affects us for life. Most consumers are both deceived and naïve regarding the commercial food industry and the additives, colorings, ingredients, labeling, preservatives, processing and refining that takes place manufacturing and preparing food for distribution. Selling fruits and vegetables generates billions each year so it should be no surprise that companies are eager to produce fake, fast and junk foods that are highly heated, processed, refined and sugar based yet sold to us as healthy and natural. Unfortunately too many people lack the skills and training to choose healthy fruit and vegetable foods. When we place too much faith and trust in big commercial agriculture, food distribution and food manufacturing companies which keep us in the dark regarding food ingredients, growing methods and labeling our health and well being will suffer.
Are Fruits and Vegetables Health Hazards?
Unfortunately the majority can be. While many companies, individuals and organizations downplay the dangers and risks of commercially produced fruits and vegetables it is well documented many have a negative impact on our health and vitality. Most commercially grown foods use synthetic chemicals and compounds such as fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, insecticides and pesticides. After they are grown many are treated with additional chemicals and compounds during cooking, packaging, pasteurizing, preserving, ripening, storing and transporting. These food industry trade secrets result in the creation of fake, fast and junk foods that are not labeled and look healthy but are not.
Many people are finally realizing that big commercial food companies are in business to make big bucks rather than promote and protect your health. The consequences of using additives, chemicals, colorings, flavorings, Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO), herbicides, High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), pesticides, preservatives, processing, refining, sugars and unhealthy ingredients is not a big concern to them unless you make it one. Buying and serving unhealthy commercial fruits and vegetables is harmful to our health and wastes money. Many people are being poisoned slowly with chemicals and compounds in and on our foods without realizing it. It is only a matter of time before these toxic chemicals lead to big bills and health problems. Most commercial fruits and vegetables are considered a health hazard due to the unhealthy chemicals, ingredients and processing. We are what we eat so choose local nutrient dense organic whole foods first.
Avoid commercial fruits and vegetables grown, prepared or produced in unhealthy ways including:
- Chemical fungicides, herbicides, insecticides and pesticides.
- Cooked, irradiated, micro waved or pasteurized.
- Genetically Engineered (GE) and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) crops like alfalfa, canola, corn, cotton, papaya, rice, soy, sugar beets and wheat.
- Hybrid plants that produce seedless fruit (grapes, oranges, water melon)
- Processed fruits and vegetables which contain GE or GMO corn, High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), rice, soy, wheat. (ketchup, fruit drinks, jams, jellies, juices)
- All fruit drinks and juices are concentrated sugars which spike our blood sugar and addict us and promote over consumption.
- Fruits and vegetables with synthetic chemical additives, colorings, flavorings, minerals, preservatives and vitamins.
- Crops grown with Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO) manure or waste water treatment plant sludge for fertilizer. These fertilizers are significant sources of antibiotics, bacteria, GMO feeds, hormones, herbicides and pesticides.
- Commercial farm land that is depleted in minerals and lacking soil nutrients and microbes.
- Cooked and processed fruit in cans, jars and plastic cups. People deserve mostly fresh or fresh frozen whole foods instead.
- Highly processed and refined fruits and vegetables with HFCS, sugars and table salt.
- Minimize all processed and refined fruits and vegetables.
Start Smart Fruits and Vegetable Habits
When we stop buying commercial fruits and vegetables and start buying local nutrient dense organic whole foods we will enjoy even more happiness and health. Simple steps to start providing delicious and nutritious fruit and vegetables include:
- Buy organic fruits and vegetables in season from local farmers markets
- Consume mostly raw fruits and vegetables in season.
- Plant fruit bearing trees and vines. Apples, crabapples, figs, grapes, oranges, peaches, plums, pomegranate,
- Plant an organic vegetable garden with amaranth, basil, cabbage, cucumbers, greens, herbs, lettuce, kale, okra, parsley, sesame, squash,
- Start a hydroponics garden
- For centuries people have also collected wild fruits and vegetables in season. Great choices include: apples, berries, cactus, cactus fruit, crab apples, dandelions, flowers, grapes, noni, plums and sea veggies.
