As a result of feeling less energetic than usual, I am shifting gears to address another area of energy psychology that is near and dear to my heart. Almost everyone is familiar with the term genetics. Many people believe that our genes are cast in concrete core codes that determine everything that happens to our body and brain, regardless of our lifestyle choices and decisions. Epigenetics may be one of the least talked about yet most important energy psychology healing modalities.

Energy psychology is the art and science of tapping into ancient knowledge and modern wisdom to enhance the human experience of life to a higher level. Because everything in our known universe consists of various forms of energy, information, and intention, we can access, direct, and exert significant influence over the quality of life we live. Dr. Bruce Lipton, Ph.D., is a world-renowned scientist for his research on cellular biology and quantum physics. After decades of observation, research, and tapping into his energy psychology, he wrote a book called The Biology of Belief: Unleashing the Power of Consciousness, Matter & Miracles. We can learn a great deal from his book regarding the power of our beliefs and how they influence all areas of our lives. Every belief, emotion, thought, and word we express creates subtle energy and information fields that influence our decisions, destiny, and direction.

We can be happier and healthier or sadder and sicker depending on the emotions and experiences we choose to hold in our consciousness. There is a wealth of wisdom in the saying…choose your thoughts carefully because thoughts become things. When we focus on anxiety, fear, and worry, we can stress our body and manifest dis-ease. Dr. Lipton proved these concepts when he took a cancer cell from a “sick” body and transferred it to a healthy environment, and the cell recovered quickly and behaved normally. Dr. Lipton is well known for his research on genetics and thoughts on epigenetics. Many believe that our genetics determine most of our disease, health, and longevity outcomes. They believe if you have a certain gene for cancer, diabetes, or obesity, then it is a predetermined sentence, and you cannot do much about it.

Dr. Lipton believes that epigenetics trump genetics and maybe the more powerful deciding factor. Epigenetics give people hope because it is based on our conscious choices, which are within our control. Epigenetics is based on our actions, behaviors, and beliefs that determine the vast majority of the expression of our genes. He would encourage you to be careful and positive in directing your thoughts to make better choices and decisions. He would encourage us to set intentions to help us be more aware of our external and internal influences. Doing this will help you be better at directing your actions and reactions. This will help us to manifest more of what we deserve and desire in life. At the same time, we are minimizing the things we want to avoid. It is important to be mindful to choose and think wisely as we go about our day. The world is greatly influenced by the little things we do or fail to do, so choose wisely.

In Biology of Belief, Dr. Lipton shares how we can turn our genes off and on by our conscious state of being and mindfulness that we embody consistently. Our conscious and unconscious thoughts are a powerful process, and we can consciously choose to have our body and mind collaborate, communicate, coordinate, and cooperate for better outcomes.
