Many people are stressing and struggling with maintaining their fitness, health, and wellness.  This blog offers seven brilliant DIY fitness habits for your emotional, mental and physical health. During these crazy coronavirus conditions when gyms are less available and using a lot of chemical air fresheners and cleaners that are health hazards, it is important to stay fit at home and on your own.

While gyms may seem to be good options with all the fancy equipment, machines, and personal trainers, in reality, they may not be the best option for many people. Driving to a gym consumes fuel, money, and time. If you are ready and willing to learn seven simple fitness success systems you can become fit, healthy, strong, and toned faster at home. The lack of consistent fitness habits can become a weak link that hurts your happiness and health and ruins your chances of enjoying a happy and healthy lifestyle long term. Exercising at least five days a week is key for your health and vitality. Lack of fitness can lead to disease, financial drain, physical pain, and suffering in the future.

This blog will provide seven simple systems with a wide variety of fitness habits to help you be fit, flexible, strong, and toned. As mentioned in previous blogs many people have emotional belief systems and blocking stories (BS) that provide an excuse for why they avoid fitness habits. These stories must be addressed first with energy psychology strategies like Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and/or Time Line Therapy (TLT) discussed in the previous blog. Once you deal with the self-limiting and self-sabotaging story you can move forward with renewed energy to empower, inspire and motivate yourself to embrace and enjoy healthy habits.

We mention EFT in many of our blogs because it is an easy, fast and terrific way to get great results in resolving emotional and mental blocks that can sabotage your lifestyle and success. Seven Simple Stability, Stamina, and Strength Super Systems

Balls, bands, beams, and BOSU balls are basic equipment for fantastic fitness and fun. A Swiss ball is a great way to do many exercise and fitness activities to get fitter and stronger. Even simply sitting on one while you watch, work or work out is beneficial. Using bands or hand weights while on the ball provides additional benefits. Resistance Bands offer big benefits because they allow you to do resistance training safely and without bulky weights. They are lightweight and low cost so they are easy to travel with. Balance beams can be made with some two-by-fours raised two inches off the floor. You will be amazed at the extra benefits you get waling on a balance beam. A BOSU ball (an acronym for Both Sides Utilized) is designed to help develop your core and stabilizer muscles for better agility, balance, and stability. When these fitness systems are combined they offer a big bounty of benefits for a low investment.

Bodyweight workouts include a wide range of exercises such as aerobics, calisthenics, climbing, crawling, isometrics, jumping, lunges, Pilates, plyometrics, pulling, pushing, running, squats, throwing, and yoga. All of them offer tremendous creativity and variety so you can match and mix them to keep your body and mind challenged, changing, charged, and conditioned. Do a few bear and crab crawls a day for a week and see the benefits of simple strength systems.

Functional Full Body Workouts

Functional full-body natural movement training focuses on exercise and fitness habits that actively engage core activities, movements, and skeletal systems for a more effective conditioning program. Some of my favorite functional training programs include Egoscue Method, Monkeybar Gym, MovNat, Rebounder, and TRX suspension training. Each of these systems offers a wide range of activities, exercise, and fitness habits that challenge you in many different ways. These strength systems will keep you very stable, strong, and supple.

Healthy Hobby/Sports activities include backpacking, biking, boccie ball, canoeing, dancing, gardening, hiking, kayaking, Nordic skiing, pickleball, Qigong, rebounding, recumbent bike, stand up paddle-board, swimming, tai chi, tennis, and walking. These hobbies offer fitness, fun, and relaxation elements at the same time. Anything that gets you outdoors to enjoy fresh air, movement, and sunshine is beneficial for fitness and health.

Walking is one of the best and easiest healthy habits you can maintain for health and longevity. Walking is a fundamental fitness activity to do every day. Some simple suggestions to enhance, multiply and stack the deck with additional benefits include: backpack walking, barefoot walking, beach walking, breath walking, education and information while walking, hand weight walking, hill walking, interval training and walking, lunges while walking, power walking, speed walking, stair walking, and talking while walking. With a little creativity and imagination, walking can be turned into a well-rounded and wonderful wellness workout.

Weights offer a great workout for building our muscle mass and a strong skeleton system. There are so many choices to choose from including barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, medicine balls, and weight machines. You can even make DIY weights with plastic containers filled with sand or water. Fill an empty laundry soap container with a handle with sand and you now have a DIY kettlebell. Fill a small empty water bottle with sand and you now have a hand weight for walking. If you fill it with water you can drink it while waking to hydrate and lighten the load.

Yoga is absolutely one of the most fantastic, fascinating, and fun ways to condition your body, mind, and spirit. There are so many styles and variations of yoga that you can definitely find one that fits your mood and style. Yoga can be done at a gym, home, nursing home, office, park, senior center, yard, YMCA, or yoga studio. There are even chair yoga poses that can be done in your college, community, home, office, and school. There are many DVD and online yoga training programs to choose from. Many libraries sell pre-owned yoga books and DVDs for a few dollars so anyone can find a helpful yoga resource to guide them with a yoga practice. Many churches, clubs, and community centers offer introductory yoga classes also.
